Project
UNDP in partnership with the Global Environment Facility is delivering the Facilitating Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Applications for Greenhouse Emission Reduction Project or FREAGER. An ambitious endeavor, it aims to demonstrate the potential of renewable and energy efficient technologies in PNG.
Scope of Work
Creation of a GIS database to automatically compute hydropower potential, to:
– Quickly analyze the best site configuration (location of intake and powerhouse);
– Quickly get preliminary outcomes: installed capacity, mean annual discharge, gross head and catchment area.
In addition, the study shows wind and solar potential.
Database for decision makers in order to identify the most appropriate site for rural electrification projects.
